About this piece
back to topAn antique Italian Grand Tour model of temple entrance in the manner of the ancient Greek Acropolis, Athens. The subject of this mid 19th century model is beautifully captured in fine quality Carrara marble, the apex inset with a triangle of coloured marble that radiates a striking sunburst. It is mounted onto a wooden board with a marble effect finish to match.
Perhaps acquired by a tourist during the 1800s as part of their Grand Tour acquiring collectibles across Europe, this Greek architectural model today makes an equally stunning interior display piece in a reception room, study or architect’s lounge.
