Coade Stone Boundary Plaque for St Olave’s School. A Coade stone boundary marker plaque depicting the seal of St Olave‘s school and its foundation date 1571.

The plaque was made in the later half of the 18th century dating between 1780 – 90.

The school undertook major renovation and extension in 1675, the plaques themselves date to around 1780-1790 prior to the schools relocation to Bermondsey in 1829. The plaque shows a schoolmaster with boys in an attempted Elizabethan scene. These plaque would have been a one-off commission, this is one of only ten known examples.
