Leeds Fire Clay Company (LEFCO)

The Leeds Fire Clay Company (known as LEFCO) was established in 1889 following its amalgamation of 5 existing firms to become the largest clay working company in the country. Specialising in items such as terracotta, bricks and tile, Lefco was one of the major manufacturers of glazed architectural ceramic products of the late 19th and early 20th centuries before the company’s closure in 1957.
