About this piece
back to topThis tall late 16th / early 17th century antique oak fireplace with overmantel is very rare. It dates from the Stuart period of British history and is possibly crafted using even earlier elements. More than 300 years old, you can just imagine this antique oak fireplace at the heart of a 17th century English stately home.
The timeworn dark oak has a beautiful rich wood patina that catches the eye and is decoratively carved in a Jacobean style throughout, featuring scalloped edges and turned columns to the jambs. Standing at 2.6m tall, this spectacular antique fire surround will make an impressive feature of a fireplace with its beautifully carved overmantel, looking handsome in the reception room of a large country property or period townhouse.
