An early 16^th century French renaissance style carved panel; one of two similar we are selling.

Thought to be almost 500 years old, this oak panel offers a glimpse into the styles of 16^th century France.

The carving – showcasing a male and female figure below a stylised tree with scrolling foliage – is conducted in low relief. The figures have a mythical look with human torsos and beast-like legs.

Likely once forming part of a panelled room or furniture piece, this old antique decorative panel has been repurposed as wall decoration, fitted with wire to the reverse for hanging on an interior wall.
