About this piece
back to topA curated collection of hand-worked 19th century Italian Grand Tour specimen marble fragments and semi-precious stones, many with original collector’s labels.
This diverse set includes an array of different marble and stone samples, demonstrating a unique variation of colours, textures and natural formations. Some of these specimens were likely once used as architectural details as indicated by their worked form and distinctive shape.
This unique collection includes examples of both green and red porphyry as well as one piece dark green fragment engraved with ‘Anzio’, likely referring to the Italian city south of Rome.
Ex. private collection, this is an interesting group for the modern collector of ancient artefacts!
