About this piece
back to topA 19th century bronze sculpture of the Neapolitan Fisherman after the antique.
In Grand tour style, the boy almost looks like he is in a stance of motion in this good quality scale, while the verdigris patina creates a striking time worn finish to its otherwise fine and complete look.
This depiction could be displayed as a centre piece or even used as a fountain thanks to its integral fountain spout.
Neapolitan Fisherman
Known as the ‘Neapolitan Fisherman’ the original Roman bronze fountain head was first excavated at Pompeii in the Casa della Fontana Piccolo (House of the Little Fountain) in 1823.
The original now resides in the Archeological Museum in Naples.
