About this piece

Corbels are conventionally used as an architectural fixture. However, this antique  terracotta corbel is simply too beautiful to be mounted to a wall or ceiling.

Instead, it has been brought to life on a bespoke steel stand and repurposed as sculpture, allowing the intricacy of its design to be observed and enjoyed up close on a column, table or shelf.

Dating from the late 19th century, this large corbel is made in terracotta and moulded with floral roundels and acanthus leaves. It can be used as part of a traditional scheme to complement the age-old features of a property or placed within a more modern space to create a sense of intrigue and historical interest.

We have a further pair of similar corbels available under Stock No. 32438.
