About this piece

A late 18th/early 19th century antique Georgian period lead planter, previously an original decorative rainwater hopper.

For this reason, it has an unusual shape with circular sections to each side and a series of holes in the base for drainage. Functional as well as stylish, it is ornamented with a central diamond floret to the centre and a weathered egg and dart trim.

Over 225 years old, this former rainwater hopper is a fascinating piece of British architectural history. In the modern day, it will make a beautiful garden planter or trough beneath a window planted with flowers.
