The patinated finish of the terracotta adds a characterful timeworn look to this sphinx statue. The body is well modelled with details of the carved feet, headdress, face and bust present and distinctive after more than 120 years.
It takes inspiration from the famous Egyptian Great Sphinx of Giza, which was rediscovered in 19th century and subject to further excavations throughout the 20th century.
This sphinx sculpture is of interesting scale and makes a stunning decorative item for both exterior and interior settings alike. Particularly for those with an interest in Egyptology and iconic ancient architecture!
