Antique English Thomas Elsley Gilt & Cast Iron Fire Basket

An ornate late 19^th/early 20^th century Thomas Elsley gilt and cast iron fire basket with a cement fireback, stamped with maker’s name and model number ‘678’ to the reverse.

Though of English origin, this fire grate has a distinctly French look about it, making a stunning addition to a Louis or Parisian style interior. It features intricate gilded brass legs and finial decoration, alongside a further shaped cast iron top to the back which is equally as ornate.

Serpentine horizontal bars and an old, well-worn cement fireback completed the piece, ensuring this fire grate is a feat of both function as well as form.
