Guéret Frères

Guéret Frères, the cabinet making firm, was founded in 1853 and continued production until the end of the 19th century.

From 1855 onwards, it exhibited regularly at international exhibitions and often won medals.

They exhibited at the International Exhibitions of 1855, 1867 and 1878 specialising in all types of furniture in the traditional Louis XV and XVI styles. A finely carved cabinet by Guerét Fréres is in the permanent collection of the V&A, London (W. 17-1980).

Guéret Frères based their designs on revivals of 18th-century and earlier styles. The decoration of this fireplace follows the Louis XV style.

Several of their drawings are kept in the permanent collection of the Musee des Arts decoratifs, Paris.
