According to Greek mythology, Menelaus was the Greek king of Sparta. He was a central figure in the Trojan war, leading the Spartan contingent of the Greek army under his elder brother Agamemnon, king of Mycenae. The style and stature of this Greek hero make him a handsome decorative piece for any home.

The original bust of Menelaus sits in the Vatican museum in Rome, which is sometimes referenced as the bust of Ajax.
