This landscape, painted in 1925, is titled ‘Kōnstantinoupole Stamboul’ now known as Istanbul’s Old City or the Faith District.

From left to right the iconic monuments of the Rumeli Feneri Lighthouse, Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace,  Blue Mosque and the Galata Tower can all be seen throughout the vista.

This fascinating scene is reminiscent of an extended grand tour journey at the end of an era, and the beginning of a new.

Presented in a gilt frame with an unusual complementary blue mount.
