This panel has a wonderful range of colours and styles, centred with a highly detailed painted roundel of an angel.
The outer frame resembles a chapel floor, with cut triangular tiles in pinks and yellows. This frames an unusually complex free flowing floral design of flowers vines and leaves.
Foliage appears to gently suspend the roundel which has the added effect of resting on top of the frame giving a depth to the piece.
The angel holds a shield with the monogram “IHS” (representing Iesus Hominum Salvator, Jesus Savior of Man) in bold Gothic script, appearing from clouds on a deep red background.
