About this piece
back to topA tall and elegant late 19th century pine wood fireplace, dating to circa 1880.
Presented in a waxed finish, this highly detailed fire surround has carvings to every section. The jambs are made up of a piece of moulding carved with a floral ribbon pattern which continues around the aperture.
The top portion of the surround sits atop the framing, with a fluted frieze and scallop shell centre carved in high relief.
Above, another complimentary floral carving runs below a dental moulding before being finished with a mantel.
