Hand carved in England circa 1890, this medieval style Victorian carving has a mix of heraldic themes.
Carved in high relief, ‘Ignavis iiun quam’ scrolls along the bottom of the panel which is Latin for ‘Never For The Cowardly.’
Above is the first of four rampant lions, armed with axes and wearing crowns. Through the middle, three Tudor roses centre the piece, all enclosed within a scrolling foliate border.
