In this evening scene, the ruins of ancient buildings trail off into the horizon. Most likely a depiction of the Grand Collonade in Palmyra.
In the foreground, a group walk with a camel in traditional middle-eastern attire. The shading to the bottom of the view implies it is captured from the shadow of more columns and structures.
The painting is signed by ‘Moriarty’ however the artist is unidentified.
Presented in an unusual red and gilt frame carved in high relief which pulls the crimson colours from the painting.
