About this piece
back to topA 19th century grand tour marble Scagliola marble table-top depicting the second temple of Hera in Paestum.
Dated to circa 1820, one can imagine this large scale piece collected on travels to Europe in the early 19th century, and brought back as impressive mementos.
The unmistakable Greek temple is depicted in fine detail with people in the foreground, bordered with a pinkish frame. The outer edge, painted black, has an intricate motif of overlapping vines.
