Dated to circa 1880, this highly detailed cast of the Goddess Minerva holding a shield and cane. Minerva (or Athena in Greek Mythology) is the goddess of wisdom and warfare.

The figure is seated in flowing robes and a helmet with three distinct plumes.

This depiction of Minerva is after the ‘Minerva Bowl’ discovered in the Hildesheim Treasure. The hoard was unearthed in 1868, consisting of plates, goblets, trays, pedestals and the bowl which was one of the finest pieces.
