This 18th century Cotswold limestone hand worked salting trough with a drain is presented in outstanding condition due to being situated indoors.

Hand carved in Broadway, Gloucestershire in the 1700s, this stone trough and a matching one with rounded corners were used for the salting and preservation of meat. This has a drain hole, possibly to wash the meat prior to salting in the second tray.

The Cotswold stone has maintained its soft yellow glow, protected from the elements for hundreds of years. This piece would work outdoors or in a garden room as a feature planter.
