About this piece
back to topDating from the 17th century, this English carved stone griffin or stylised dragon statue is an architectural fragment from history. Over 350 years old, it likely once served as a decorative feature of 17th century exterior architecture, carved into warm honey coloured limestone. Though well weathered over the centuries, particularly to one side, detail of the scales, face and wing remain intact, offering a glimpse into 17th century England.
