About this piece
back to topPotentially dating from as early as the 15th century medieval era, this carved red Hereford sandstone font is between 500 and 600 years old. Though heavily weathered by the elements, hand carved details of the font remain present, appearing to depict a pair of gaping masks and lobed handles. It is carved from Hereford sandstone, characterised by its rich red-brown colour which has retained its depth over time.
