About this piece

Cast iron planters or jardinieres like these would’ve once graced the homes and gardens of a 19th century French country estate, potted with blooms of flowers and an abundance of wild grasses. In the modern day, these French cast iron planters make a beautiful set of ornate antique plant pots, instilled with an aged appearance that only time can create.

Antique French Cast Iron Planters

At more than 130 years old, these French planters are a timepiece from history, light weathering adding to their antique appeal. They are cast in iron, making them very heavy and sturdy, and ornately decorated with floral embellishments and medallions evocative of French jardiniere designs of this period. They sit elegantly upon short, flared feet and each have scalloped scrolling handles.

Suitable for indoors or out, these antique French cast iron planters could be used as an ornate set of window troughs or in the garden to create the look of a classic French country home. If used indoors, they are not watertight so would require a lining before planting.
