About this piece
back to topDating from circa 1700, this large antique oak panel is intricately carved with ten regal characters. This includes a King and Queen to the centre, soldiers, and various infants. It is highly ornate, with a rich oak colour and ancient looking woodgrain that instils the panel with a sense of history. Who were these characters? Perhaps once members of a noble family? Or simply fictional figures of ancient myth? We may never know and can only but wonder of the origins of such a beautifully carved and prestigious piece…
In today’s interiors, this carved oak panel could be used as wall decoration to bring a sense of grandeur and intrigue to period panelling. Alternatively, it could be repurposed as a headboard for a Tudor or Jacobean style four poster bed.
