About this piece

A pair of antique framed tile panels depicting decorative Neoclassical portraits.

Dating to circa 1870, each plaque is carefully hand painted in a tonal blue on a vivid ochre background.

The woman is displayed with a crescent moon to represent the night, while the bearded man is accompanied by shells and waterlily.

The wooden frames with a dark stained finish allow the prints to stand out and showcase their fine details. The perfect decorative wall art for a traditional home looking to add style and charm.

A makers stamp can be seen to the reverse, although indistinct, it adds intrigue and an element of history to the pair.
