About this piece

A pair of 18th century antique stone lions reclaimed from a house in South London. Likely originally used as gate piers, this pair of armorial lions make a striking ornamental feature in gardens traditional and modern. Each are stylistically hand carved into limestone and hold a shield, creating a typically English heraldic look. Over the past 200 years, the lion forms have remained intact with detailed characteristics of the face, mane, paws and tail beautifully preserved. Each stone lion statue is lightly weathered, creating a natural finish that only exposure to the elements through time can create.
