About this piece
back to topThis large 20th century stone clam shell sculpture is a simply spectacular object. Circa 1920, it is by the Dudley artist, John Vernon, and was possibly a commissioned piece for a city park. It depicts the distinct form of an ocean clam shell, possibly a gapers clam indicated by its wide proportions and curved horizontal scallops, deeply carved into grey blue sandstone. Thanks to its scale, this large stone sculpture will become a focal point of any outdoor space! It could sit above the ground or be set into the ground.
We are also selling a huge stone trilobite sculpture by the same artist.
