back to topA large antique Twyfords twin Belfast sink. It displays two large deep stoneware Belfast style sinks differing in depth, sat on a wrought iron stand showcasing large eye-catching scrolls.
Dating to circa 1900, this twin sink was likely once used as a handy, wide slop sink for washing laundry and other items. Today, it could be used as a stylish addition to kitchens and utilities period and modern alike.
Twyford Hanley
In 1680, Joshua Twyford was the first of the Twyford family to establish a commercial pottery near Shelton Old Hall, Hanley.
At its peak in the 20th century, the Twyfords company operated in four continents; with factories in the UK, South Africa, India, and Australia.
Thomas Twyford established his first factory in Bath Street, Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent – hence the company name Twyford Hanley.
The company ceased in the UK in 2011.
