A large antique octagonal bronze sundial inscribed ‘J. Appleyard, Leeds,1872’, originally from Brinkley Hall, Cambridge, a Grade II listed building with origins dating back to the late 18th century.

Made in bronze, this horizontal sundial plate has stood the test of time for over 150 years. Though weathered with a natural patina, the sundial’s intricate engraving is still clear and distinguishable, telling the story of an old English country house:

“So teach us to number our days that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom… Table to find Greenwich Mean Time at Brinkley Hall, Cambe”.
