Beautifully ornate, this Baroque putto statue has been preserved for more than 150 years, only small losses revealing the sculpture’s age. It is an impressive statue for an interior inspired by Baroque and Renaissance styles, showcasing the remarkable talent of the 19th century woodcarver.

Baroque Putti Statue

The putto (or plural putti) is an often-seen figure of Renaissance and Baroque history. Also referred to as cherubs, putti are depicted as nude infants with wings and are found frequently in Italian paintings, statuary and art of these periods. A subject of both religion and mythology, the putto is thought to derive from personifications of love.
