back to topFull Size Antique Model Throne of Saint Peter. In St. Peter’s Basilica, in the Vatican City, the bronze statue of Saint Peter is seated on an alabaster throne identical to this one, made by Carlo Marchionni in 1757.
The throne features scrolled, moulded sides decorated with anthemion’s and scrolling acanthus leaves with lion paw front uprights, attributed to Brucciani.
Domenico Brucciani (1815-1880) established a Gallery of Casts in Covent Garden, London in 1837. He developed links with the British Museum as well as the V&A.
