About this piece
back to topThis elegant quatrefoil shaped white marble plaque depicts a kneeling angel in high relief mounted on a bespoke steel stand. Intricately carved, the angel is left facing, kneeling on a flourish of clouds with hands in a prayer position, suggesting it was once used as an altar piece or embellishment in a church or religious building. It dates from the 1870s and has been beautifully preserved with only light weathering, surface marks and discolouration in places to the white Carrara marble. It makes a stunning decorative object for an interior, ideal for a converted chapel or a classically styled Victorian property.
