About this piece
back to topA pair of shallow antique terracotta garden urns in the tazza style, stamped with the Doulton & Co. maker’s mark of Lambeth. Dating from circa 1890, these antique urns have stood the test of time, looking as stunning planted with flowers in a traditional garden as they do stand-alone statuary planters in a more modern setting. Each urn is of matching design with carving throughout on sweeping socle bases.
Doulton & Co.
Doulton & Co. have been pioneers of the pottery and ceramics world for more than 200 years. Better known today as ‘Royal Doulton’, the company was established in 1815 in Lambeth, London. The third quarter of the 19th century saw an increased demand for architectural and sculptural terracotta. Doulton & Co. were amongst others in designing a huge range of unglazed terracotta and garden ornaments, including these tazza urns.
